I.S.S.

Dr. Kira Foster (Ariana DeBose) arrives on the International Space Station for her first stay. Shortly after arriving a conflict breaks out on Earth between America and Russia creating tensions onboard between the six astronauts. (Played by Chris Messina, John Gallagher Jr., Masha Mashkova, Costa Ronin and Pilou Asbaek.)

The six astronauts are evenly split between America and Russia. There is one on each side that is unsure of what to do and generally want to avoid conflict, one on each side that is generally shifty and that you think will create trouble whilst the remaining two are in love and do not see their country of origin as something that should create a conflict. Unfortunately the dynamics between them are so telegraphed that there is little tension built up for the viewer. The other aspect that drains any remaining tension is the fact that what we see of the Earth from the station looks utterly decimated and any conversation about returning to it seems thoroughly futile.

Of the actors involved only Chris Messina as the senior US astronaut carries any level of gravity (pun intended) that makes you want to root for him. Otherwise everyone struggles with an underwritten script that gives them little to build upon. The budget was clearly small but the sets of the I.S.S. and the zero gravity effects are decent.

Unfortunately even at 95 mins the film outstays its welcome and delivers a dissatisfying ending.

Disappointing to say the least.
